    Tarmac TX Goes Green With Launch of Its Fourth Cohort Focused on Social and Environmental Startups

    New cohort of early-stage social entrepreneurs will be equipped with the necessary skill set and connections to help them reach their intended impact under Tarmac TX program in Austin, Tex.

     

    AUSTIN, Tex.-- Eight startups began their cohort experience today in Austin, Tex.-based social and environmental impact accelerator Tarmac TX.

     

    This cohort, Tarmac TX’s fourth to date, includes early stage startups with a science or technology-based solution that focus on green issues related to the environment, water, food, energy, and climate change.

     

    Tarmac TX is pleased to announce the members of the 2019 cohort:

    • Save The Food

     

    Tarmac TX is an equity-free 4-month acceleration program based in Austin, Tex. Each founding team is supported with mentorship from 3M, weekly trainings and workshops, events, networking opportunities, and 24/7 access to Relay Coworking at The Center for Social Innovation.

     

    Lesley Robinson, program director of Tarmac TX, said: “Tarmac TX equips early stage social entrepreneurs with the necessary skill set and connections to help them reach their intended impact. From the 2016, 2017, and 2018 cohorts, selected startups are currently working towards achieving an even stronger impact on not only Austin’s community, but our larger community as a whole. Tarmac TX alumni are creating impact by saving the environment, serving students, supporting foster kids, combating addiction, growing food, supporting local creatives, and building up the blind community, among many other initiatives. I have no doubt that this 2019 cohort will make similar impactful contributions during their time in the program. We congratulate the winners and are excited to work with them.”

     

    The 2019 program is the fourth edition of Tarmac TX. It is a partnership between San Francisco-founded nonprofit organization INCO US and St Paul, Minn.-based 3M Company.     Tarmac TX 2018 Edition Launch Day

     

    AUSTIN, Tex. -- Tarmac TX officially launched its 2018 edition with an all new cohort of startups on July 23, 2018.

     

    "Our program couldn’t be more excited to host nine amazing startups at Capital Factory for the next nine months! We are looking forward to achieving great things: 3M mentors, pitch events, speakers, workshops, and more", said Lesley Robinson, program director Tarmac TX.

    Tarmac TX Announces its 2018 Cohort

     

    Austin, Tex. -- Tarmac TX is excited to announce that nine startups have officially agreed to join the 2018 social good tech accelerator program in Austin, Texas.

     

    From a large pool of applicants, 14 startups with a combination of innovative technology and a social impact mission were invited to pitch their presentation on June 28 at 3M’s Customer Innovation Center in Austin, Texas. A jury of accomplished individuals from 3M and the Austin startup community selected 8 diverse startups with the most potential to join the third edition of Tarmac TX. A previous startup, Leaf and Flour, was selected to join Tarmac TX 2018 through a reverse pitch competition hosted by the City of Austin. All startups will begin the program on July 23, 2018.

    Tarmac TX's Women in Tech for Good Competition #ASW

    AUSTIN, Tex. -- Tarmac TX’s Women in Tech for Good Competition took place at WeWork Domain on October 11 in the middle of Austin's Startup Week. This event sponsored by 3M & Dell aimed at celebrating women entrepreneurs whose business have a strong social or environmental positive impact on our Society and/ or Planet.

    The pitch competition gathered 5 startups founded or co-founded by women: KinTrans, GuideChange, DiversityFund, Unaliwear and Idego . They pitched in front of a jury composed of Ann Fornof from 3M, Amanda Cayo from Dell, cofounder of re3D Samantha Snabes, and CEO of Risu Maria Nascimento.

    The winner of the competition, GuideChange, an online platform preventing elderly people from being financially abused, will be soon provided with one free month of acceleration at Tarmac TX, i.e.:
    - 2 hours of individual coaching;
    - 2 hours of mentoring with a 3M employee;
    - Access to our classes, workshops, events and networking opportunities;
    - 1-month free access to Galvanize coworking space;
    - 1-year free access to Impact Network’s online platform (global network of entrepreneurs gathering 500+ startups in 20 countries).
